The light is magical at all times during the day in the Alhambra and this subject caught my eye -there are many doorways and portals that make for fantastic subject matter

The Jusef Palace

At the front of the courtyard are the remains of what once was the main room of the palace: a tower overlooking a portico in the open patio. The remains of the walls now form a terrace that provides one of loveliest views to be had in the Alhambra.

The Refections

What sets the Jusef Palace off are the reflections in the stunning long pool in the central courtyard with gardens on either side.

The fountains

The Generalife has numerous fountains, creating a wonderful atmosphere as you walk around the gardens. Listening to the sound of trickling water accompanied by the swifts and swallows overhead is of my most treasured memories

The Jusef Palace

The Alhambra

The view as the sun is setting from St Nicholas in the Albaycin is breathtaking. In Autumn the light effects are remarkable as the sky turns from irridescent pinks and oranges to violet

The Alpujarras

The view from Pampaneira looking towards the villages of Bubion and Capeleira with the Sierra Nevada mountains are breathtaking on a clear day

Guadix

This enchanting troglodyte town of Guadix with its delightful chimneys that pop up everywhere has a really child-like ambiance about it. We love visiting here especially during the festival of the Cascamorras which is held in September.

Cordoba

The Roman bridge in Cordoba has been made super pedestrian friendly. Cars are no longer allowed into the historic area via the bridge. You can take a lovely walk and view the sunset over Cordoba later in the day from the tower at the far end. Pure magic!

Ronda

The Puente Nuevo bridge in full sunlight set against an intense blue sky- its no wonder writers like Hemmingway and Welles loved it here.
