Where is the most inspiring place you have painted in plein air?

I would love to hear about your experiences, comment below and tell us your stories. The practice of painting in plein air is always invigorating. It can be challenging for anyone new to it but I find I get so immersed in what I’m doing that time just disappears and the energy it creates lingers long afterwards.

The light is magical at all times during the day in the Alhambra and this subject caught my eye -there are many doorways and portals that make for fantastic subject matter

The Jusef Palace

At the front of the courtyard are the remains of what once was the main room of the palace: a tower overlooking a portico in the open patio. The remains of the walls now form a terrace that provides one of loveliest views to be had in the Alhambra.

What sets the Jusef Palace off are the reflections in the stunning long pool in the central courtyard with gardens on either side.

The Generalife has numerous fountains, creating a wonderful atmosphere as you walk around the gardens. Listening to the sound of trickling water accompanied by the swifts and swallows overhead is of my most treasured memories
